Meet Shannon

Shannon Dare Wayne is a lifelong Michigander who has called Milan home for 22 years. Raised in a blue-collar union family, she learned early on the value of hard work, service, and standing up for others. With a grandfather who served as an AFSCME local president and a father who retired from Ford Motor Company as a UAW electrician, Shannon knows firsthand what good jobs mean for working families.

Shannon has brought those same values to her work in public service. She has served on the Milan City Council for more than 4 years and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem, where she has helped deliver more than $7 million for wastewater treatment plant upgrades, parks, roads, and other community improvements while helping maintain a balanced budget and protect taxpayer dollars.

She has also worked at Ford Motor Company for almost 30 years, building a career focused on problem-solving, efficiency, and accountability. She was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Technological University Board of Trustees and serves as an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University, underscoring her commitment to education, opportunity, and preparing the next generation for success.

Now, Shannon is running for the Michigan House to bring the same practical, results-driven leadership to Lansing and lower costs, strengthen schools, improve infrastructure, protect health care, and fight for good-paying jobs in the 31st District.

She and her husband, Kevin, are proud to be raising their three children in the 31st District and remain deeply committed to the community they call home.
