Priorities
Shannon is running to lower costs, strengthen communities, and deliver the kind of practical results families in the 31st District deserve.
Lowering Costs and Strengthening the Economy
Raised in a union family and shaped by more than 30 years at Ford Motor Company, Shannon knows the dignity of hard work and what it takes to build an economy where businesses can grow and families can earn a good living. In Lansing, she will fight to lower costs, support local business development, and create more good-paying jobs that help families put down roots and build a future.
Housing Affordability and Stronger Communities
Strong communities depend on people being able to afford to live in them.
Shannon supports efforts to expand housing options for seniors, working families, and residents at every stage of life. That means making the 31st District a place where young families can put down roots, workers can live near their jobs, and seniors can stay in the communities they helped build.
Access to Affordable Healthcare
Access to quality, affordable health care is essential, especially for seniors and families already feeling the squeeze of rising costs.
Shannon believes people should be able to get the care they need without having to travel too far, wait too long, or worry about whether they can afford it. She will support policies that protect access to affordable care, strengthen local health services, and help ensure seniors can live with dignity, security, and the support they need.
Strengthening Public Education and Expanding Opportunity
As a mom and professor, Shannon knows firsthand how important strong schools are for families and for the future of our communities.
Shannon will fight for full public school funding, affordable higher education, and career pathways that prepare students for success, whether that means college or the skilled trades. Because every student deserves the opportunity to build a future that works for them.
Fixing Infrastructure and Protecting Taxpayer Dollars
Shannon believes the government should do the basics well, and that starts with safe roads, reliable water systems, and infrastructure people can count on.
On the Milan City Council, Shannon has helped deliver more than $7 million in funding to modernize aging infrastructure, including road improvements, wastewater upgrades, and investments in community spaces like Wilson Park and the Riverbank Center – all while maintaining a balanced budget and making taxpayer dollars go further.
In Lansing, she’ll bring that same focus to fighting for the investments communities need to fix infrastructure, support growth, and improve daily life.
